To Blog or Not to Blog

Having created a place online for random thoughts, I discovered I am mildly phobic about writing anything. Even thought I know it doesn't really matter what I write. I spent a bit of today wandering why I have avoided blogging thus far. I came up with the following:

Despite enjoying reading other people's blogs, or perhaps because of this, I feel hesitant to join in. I feel like a kid at my first school disco who has learn the latest dance (Bad Boys by Wham) but is too afraid to dance in public. I did eventually of course, and am quite thankful I was in my Kaja-goo-goo phase by then. Small mercies. Considering the fact I was flinging myself all over the floor at Indie Delights last Saturday without much care for my personal safety, let along my dignity, I suppose blogging can't be any more embarrassing than that. Or can it ?

The other reason is because I am lazy.

I love reading Blogs, and surfing for stuff on t'internet and quite often I find reassuring similarities in the way other people think, which provide me with a warm fuzzy feeling of humanity. I get my fuzz regularly from this Lady. And often dip into the stories on Scaryduck for similar reasons.

Then, just when I start to let down my guard and think 'Ahhh, isn't it nice how we are all basically thinking the same things.....' I read something mind bending like this theory on the future of our world . An extract: The ultimate goal of this proposed elite group is to bring about a single global marketplace, controlled by a world government, policed by a world army, financially regulated by a world bank via a single global currency, and populated by a microchipped population connected to a global computer, a computer that both monitors and updates our personal location and financial status, and regulates our emotional state via transmitted electrical signals - technology that already exists.

I wish I could comment more on that link, but my after scraping my brain up off the pavement it doesn't seem to be functioning too well. I admit I got totally suckered in and read the entire conspiracy put forward by Nick Sandburg one Sunday a few weeks ago, and have been vaguely haunted by it ever since. Part of me wishes I had never stumbled across it.

So does blogging need to be a two-way thing ? Should everyone join in, or is there a place in the world for people to rest happily in their comfort zones reading other's thoughts ? I guess there is only one way to find out.

Click here to see a slideshow of my Barcelona photos. For some reason they seem to be in reverse chronological order. I am the most untechnical IT person I know : )
2006 has only just begun and already I have discovered that I love Barcelona and Picasa (free photo editor from Google). See below for the result.
